Prospective students are encouraged to review materials on my web site. In general terms, my research concerns the application of signal processing and physical modeling to the study of the Earth's ionosphere and magnetosphere, including plasma dynamics, chemical and photochemical processes, thermal structure, flow patterns, and chemical composition. Inputs are derived from radio, optical, particle, and electromagnetic field measurements recorded from ground-based and space-borne sensors. Successful students in my group tend to have some interest in natural phenomena, as well as the application of engineering principles to their study.
While interested students are welcome to contact me, please understand that no decisions can be made until you have submitted a full application to BU and have been accepted into the graduate program.
