Spectral characteristics and small scale morphology of active aurora, based on ground-based multi-spectral
optical and radar measurements. Focus on coupling of optical plasma flow estimates and ionospheric
electrodynamics, as well as emission ratio analysis of fine scale aurora combined with ionospheric
ion-chemistry modeling. Special interest in volumetric imaging of polar cap plasma structures with the phased array Resolute Bay
incoherent scatter radar (RISR-N).
For my PhD thesis, my research was focussed on observations obtained with the ASK (Auroral Spectral and Kinetics) instrument, operated on Svalbard and in Tromsø. Data from the SIF (Spectral Imaging Facility) spectrograph and the EISCAT radars were also analysed.
